Tignale Holidays . History

THE ROAD LINKING TIGNALE to the lakeside was built at the beginning of the twentieth century. Until then the little town was virtually cut off from other towns along Lake Garda. For centuries its economy was based on agriculture and the inhabitants traded their oil, wine and wood at the Desenzano market in exchange for cereals, salt and other basic necessities.

The Garda lakeside road was completed between the two World Wars, which is when tourists started to discover Tignale and its inns offering family-atmosphere hospitality. The real tourist boom took off in the Sixties and Seventies when Tignale started to develop its resources and promote its attractions.
