“A BALCONY OVERLOOKING LAKE GARDA"

Whatever you choose to do during your stay in Tignale, lying comfortably round a pool or on a beach by the lake, or panting for breath climbing a steep slope, you will always amazed by the beauty of the scenery. The villages that make up Tignale are situated on a green plateau with breathtaking views and sheer terraces over the lake, impressive mountains behind, and beautiful olive groves down to the beach on the lakeside - enchanting panoramic views everywhere that are a pleasure for both your eyes and your spirits, and add to the enjoyment of your holiday!

Don’t miss the lively ‘sagre’ (festivals) with typical local food, the mediaeval markets (historical reconstruction in costume of peasant markets of the thirteenth century), the classical music concerts with famous international artists, the truffle festival ...(and much more)

For those who practice sports: the conditions for going mountain biking, trekking, horse riding, windsurfing, sailing, canyoning, and playing tennis, have attracted dynamic young people looking for energetic holidays from all over Europe.  The inland part of Tignale, with its variety of routes – a paradise of roads, dirt tracks, footpaths and old mule-tracks climbing up and down the beautiful mountains that surround the villages of Tignale, is perfect for mountain biking.

THE HISTORY OF TOURISM IN TIGNALE

The road linking Tignale to the lakeside was built at the beginning of the twentieth century. Until then the little town was virtually cut off from other towns along Lake Garda. For centuries its economy was based on agriculture and the inhabitants traded their oil, wine and wood at the Desenzano market in exchange for cereals, salt and other basic necessities.

The Garda lakeside road was completed between the two World Wars, which is when tourists started to discover Tignale and its inns offering family-atmosphere hospitality. The real tourist boom took off in the sixties and seventies when Tignale started to develop its resources and promote its attractions.
